When only…

Among several challenges, the biggest one in relation to my new status, was how to handle the change from being a full-time professional to a full-time housewife.

I often felt boredom and isolation and didn’t dare to talk to others about it – what would they say and think? At the same time, I felt very much ashamed of not appreciating enough the privileged situation of not having to work. But I lacked the professional and social fulfilment that a job would give me, I thought. When only I had that, things would be better.

I therefore tried out a couple of jobs: I worked both as an amateur flower decorator and as a part-time marketing employee. And though both jobs gave me professional and social fulfilment, I still had this feeling of being unsatisfied. Now what??
